In 1990 the Morgan race drivers decided that the would extract themselves from the rough and tumble of other race series and set up their own Championship. The original aim has been maintained over the last 16 years and those drivers who participate today enjoy racing each other without unnecessarily endangering their cars to themselves. Power Torque has recognised the imprtance of this approach to racing and is sponsoring the Championship for the second time this year.
There are six classes participating in the championship plus an invitation class. The most highly modified 4600 cc cars are in Class A. Class B includes standar 4.6s, modified Plus 8s, Plus 4s and 4/4s; Class C is split in two. C8 is for standard road going Plus 8s to 3999 cc and C6 is for standard road going Roadsters; Class D includes production carburetted Plus 8s and 4 cylinder cars.
During the race at Zandvoort the famous 1962 Le Mans winner in the 2 litre GT Class Plus 4 Super Sport "TOK 258" will compete in the invitational class. Also a very rare Morgan Plus 4 SLR (Sprinzel Lawrence Racer) will race at Zandvoort just one week after winning the Fordwater Trophy at Goodwood.
